Home Again!

I love those holidays where you feel like you’ve been away for ages. This trip to South Africa was one such trip. It’s nice to be home, but it was great to visit Capetown as well. Our last few days in the city were spent checking out more parts of the city. Sea Point is where there are a lot of very very fancy homes, all built into the side of a hill with views out to the ocean. There are lots of restaurants and a lovely coastal drive.

One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to Table Mountain. We were staying in a suburb pretty much at the foothills of the mountain, and you can get a bit complacent about going up there, but on the day before we left, we went. You catch a cable car up a steep incline- the floor of the car rotates so everyone gets a 360 degree view during the trip up. Once up there are paths you can walk along, but no fences or barriers. Which is quite amazing because you can go right tot he edge and look down 1000 metres to the foothills below. I am not usually afraid of heights, but I did feel a sense of vertigo when looking down. The winds were quite mild, but still strong. There are these sheets of clouds which blow across the top of the mountain, and they flow over the edge of the table like a waterfall – a waterfall of clouds. I tried to photograph it, but it is one of those things that you just need to see for yourself.

The flight home was a good one, a full plane but it seemed to go fairly quickly. After all our travels, we got back to Melbourne and one of my bags had been offloaded from our domestic flight from Sydney, so we had to wait another hour for it to come in on the next flight.

Now we are home to lovely warm weather, and are looking forward to spending today unpacking and getting organised before going back to work tomorrow. I’m looking forward to getting back to running.

    love you,
